Hello Everyone...

I apologize for the delay in updating our news, we finally found a webmaster to help us out….Daniel’s back and at least is going to assist with updates….

TAPS is returning to Porterville, this time for 2 days of paranormal education and ghost hunting. We have added the Porterville Museum and the Santa Fe Depot to the lineup of locations to hunt at.

So if you are staying in town for the long Memorial Day weekend, join us for some fun, excitement, and meet some of the celebrities from one of the most well known ghost hunting groups in the world. Last year’s event sold out early, so go to www.theatlanticparanormalsociety.com to check out what is offered and reserve your spot.

PGS has ventured out to two new places; Allensworth State Historic Park and the Porterville Museum.

Allesworth State Historic Park

The location of one of the first organized African American communities in the western region, Allensworth is quite an active location. We have EVPs and lots of strange and exciting experiences. We have had the pleasure of going twice, the latest taking along our new paranormal friends, APRA. We are also planning to meet with State Park personnel to start developing evening tours. Keep an eye open for upcoming news about it…..

The Porterville Museum

The Porterville Museum has also been a fun place to investigate. Under the perfecting hosting of Sheila Pickerell, the Museum, which once housed the Southern Pacific Railroad Station, has proven to be a strange place indeed. Group members have seen shadows, sounds of soft murmuring, whistling within the building from an unknown source and a woman saying “yes” when asked if some of the display items were hers. PGS is also planning to conduct evening tours at the Museum…we will keep you posted.

PGS has undergone many changes, members have come and gone, new members are in training and we have gone to a lot of exciting places. PGS is also proud to finally be a Limited Liability Corporation. That endeavor took a lot of hard work, planning and legal expertise to do it right. We finally did it!!!!

We have also listened to the public and are having t-shirts created for sale. Details of how to get your own PGS shirt will be made available as soon as they are ready.

PGS thanks you for all your support. Happy hunting!!!

Hello Everyone...

A lot has happened since I last did an update. PGS has hosted the TAPS Boot Camp on October 10 and it was a huge success. All seating was sold out. We had to unfortunately turn people away at the door who wanted to attend.

The event’s highlight was actually hands on investigating with Ghost Hunters Britt Griffith and Amy Bruni. They were also assisted by Syd Schultz of West Coast TAPS. He is the equipment expert.

It was such a hit that TAPS member Britt Griffith wants to return in 6 months and turn it into a 2 day event and probably also annually. Thank you to everyone who showed their support.

Attendees learned different aspects of paranormal research. They learned about equipment, EVPs, types of hauntings, methods, haunted places etc. All I heard was positive remarks and saw a lot of happy faces.

We also were surprised by the visit of Rex Williams, who appears on the show Destination Truth. He had heard about the event and wanted to attend. He was well received and told me that he wants to come back and go on a ghost hunt with PGS.

Another bit of news…. PGS had the privilege of investigating Allensworth State Historical Park. This park is one of the very first African American communities. PGS is the first paranormal group to investigate for any activity. We came away with a deep respect for the efforts of this pioneering little village and also we caught some evidence.

We are currently in the process of setting up a page dedicated to Allensworth, with evidence and photos and their link.

I appreciate all your patience and waiting for an update….I promise not to take so long next time….thanks to all!!!!!

Hello Everyone...

Just in case you keep up with my ramblings….this past month is again, super busy for PGS. The event for October 10, 2009 is official and you can see it at:

http://www.the-atlantic-paranormal-society.com/taps101/porterville.html

We are working at assisting TAPS staff for the upcoming TAPS Boot Camp with all the help they need, from coordinating meetings, business permits, site reviews and transportation to just being around for help in any way that is needed. We are excited that we are the host team and for the chance to learn from our mentors.

Not many big things come up our way in this area; it is literally a fantastic opportunity for the public to attend a paranormal event presented by an elite group of researchers. TAPS may not be the first ghost hunters in existence…but they are the finest we know (in addition to us of course). The event is also affordable and should prove to be a lot of fun.

If it proves to be successful, this will more than likely become an annual event. We are hopeful to see you out there and join in on the fun…you will not regret it.

PGS has also been extremely blessed with its very own sponsor. Our newest member, Shannon, has graciously offered to assist PGS in acquiring much needed equipment at his expense. He has a successful career and wanted to give back to a hometown ghost hunting group. We appreciate his help and generosity.

PGS is fast becoming a “known” group on the West coast…we earned that reputation by being hard working, proficient in our tasks and helping. See what some hard work can do?

See you all later and thanks for visiting…things to do and running out of time….yikes!!

Peace…Kat

TAPS Recognizes PGS...

On this very date, PGS was notified that they are now official TAPS Family Members!!!

Here is an excerpt from the letter received from Britt Griffith:

Hi there!

We would like to take a moment and extend some great news to you!  We, TAPS Family Management are pleased to welcome you OFFICIALLY to the TAPS Family! After careful consideration, we have chosen your group to be added to our family. Just know that we field hundreds upon hundreds of applications monthly and yet we only have a goal to add 6-7, of the best of THOSE groups to our family, PER MONTH. Your team is one out of hundreds to make it!

Welcome to the elite.

In closing, we would like to say THANKS for your becoming a part of the TAPS Family.  We look forward to many great things from you. If you have any questions, please reach out to us.

 Welcome again, to the elite!

Britt Griffith

TAPS Family Manager

It has taken a lot of hard work, dedication and helping people in crisis to get us where we are today. It’s an achievement, a kind of reward and recognition that we take this “hobby” seriously. It is a validation of our efforts.

We also know there will be a high degree of expectation from not only TAPS, but from our clients. Rest assured we will always strive to do our best.

Peace to everyone…..Kat

Hello Everyone...

PGS has been super busy with developing new investigation sites, training new members, watching current members grow into part of the core team and most of all....staying cool in the approaching heat. We have developed a new website (we are growing so it has to also) members have acquired new equipment and the most challenging thing of all...Kat, your writer, has turned 50!

We also have the excitement of being the host team for a TAPS Para 101 event, right here in Porterville! If all goes well, the tentative date is October 10, 2009 (just around the corner from Halloween.....my favorite holiday, I think its the candy thing). It is still in the early planning stages and venues are still being worked out, but we have high hopes it will become reality. So keep an eye out for updates.

PGS has also learned that TAPS West Coast are cool people. They have even experienced their own extraordinary event after dinner at a local pub. From now on when Britt says "Kat, there's a cop in your car"....I will believe him!

PGS has been notified that the group is on the "approval track" for TAPS Family Membership. It is a long process and not everyone makes it. So we are encouraged and quite happy with this...to us, becoming a TAPS Family Member is like getting the Quality Seal of Approval. It means we are legit and we take our investigating to the next level.

Until next time, we wish you a great summer, stay out of the sun, put on plenty of sunscreen and if you have a pool...invite PGS over. Happy Summer!!!

Keeping it Real

Hi everyone...I was looking at the website and realized...hey, no blog update! So here I am....updating. Alot has happened to our little group....no longer small and hidden. We have had the good fortune to be allowed to investigate at a local museum and have discovered (with documented evidence) that the Zalud House in our fair city has paranormal activity. We have had the support of local city officials and are appreciative of that. The word is spreading and we are working hard to keep our museum safe and also share....the response has been fantastic. Come and join us if you want to.....all we can guarantee is having some fun and meeting some good and real people. The rest is up to the spirits that still reside in the Zalud House.

PGS has had its growing pains...every organization does....and its settling into a pretty awesome group....they are great, hardworking, talented, eager and loyal people. We all care about each other like a big family. We got each other's backs. It has also been fun promoting PGS and meeting all the new people in this business. (Now business is a pretty wide word...we make absolutely no money doing this. If we charge for the Zalud...it goes right to the Zalud. It is a museum and guess what....tax deductible!)

The opportunities that are coming our way are not taken for granted...we see it as a reward for our integrity, honesty and hours of hard work. We look forward to meeting new people, going to new places and keeping our reputation as real as possible. Its actually quite easy....don't turn anything into a sideshow, don't insist on publicity, don't put your face or name on everything, accept no for an answer sometimes and leave it at that, be respectful and tolerant....be prepared to speak up if something is not right....especially if your reputation might be affected and be polite and nice.....always.

I hope you didn't get too bored with my blog...I am out of practice!!! I promise to come back more often and share some of my thoughts...I invite you to comment if you like, all I ask is keep it respectful. Thank you very much and have a Happy Easter....

Atta Boy Luther!!!! Kids and Ghost Hunting.....

Hey Guys.....since Halloween is right around the corner (my favorite holiday and I know its Debbie's too).....we need to think about the kids. We all know how it felt to go trick or treating, telling each other scary stories, checking out the ghost story books, watching all the spooky movies.

The movies? The cheesier and gorier the better.... Who can forget the shhh, shhh, shhh to Friday the 13th? How about Halloween...that crazy music where you knew Michael was coming to get the girl? And who remembers that psychotic scene when Kurt Russell is heating up the alien blood in The Thing? Or The House on Haunted Hill....talk about a haunted house!! And one of my all time favorites...The Ghost and Mr Chicken....atta boy Luther!!!!

I have an idea that blossomed when I was talking to my sister (she was telling me that my nephew Cameron is so fired up about ghost hunting that he wants to go on one and he thinks his Aunt Kathy and Uncle Bruno are cool, isn't he an angel? )....Maybe we can start up a PGS Kids or Support Team type thing....kinda cool actually. So I think we are. How many of us started out doing this anyway because of an experience....WHEN WE WERE KIDS!?!?!

Lately I have been hearing, reading and viewing shows and articles about how the supernatural could be harmful to kids, I totally agree with that to some extent, considering their ages and inability to use sound judgement along with their inexperience. But if they are oriented, coached, monitored, taken along, educated and protected then what is the harm in it? I sure wouldn't take a 5 yr old youngster along...I know better than that, but I can gauge what I feel they can handle! I sure wish we had the use of KIIs, digital meters, a night shot camera, camcorders and a cool voice recorder...all we had in our day was a flashlight ( that was so dim we couldn't see anything) and our ears!

Anyway....just my thoughts on the subject....kids and ghosts are like french fries and ketchup, peanut butter and jelly, milk and oreos......they just naturally go together.....I can't wait to take him along some day....maybe to the cemetery just to get a feel for it. Why should we have all the fun? Who knows....maybe he's a natural.

Peace to all...........Kat

Getting Ready for the Next One......

Hi to whomever is following along with my random thoughts.....PGS is settling down and realizing how much work we have ahead of us. We are currently working on a confirmation for investigation at a local business and also given an assignment to research an area of a lynching that took place in the 1800's. This area has been reported to be very eerie, voices have been heard and a general feeling of despair....we are going to check it out, visit the sight and post our findings. If it is indeed a place that might give us some evidence...yes, we are gonna stay there all night! We have also been asked by civic groups to do some presentations for their members and classes....Halloween is just around the corner. PGS is moving right along, staying busy, making contacts, fielding calls and inquiries....if you need some feedback, advice or just some understanding people...give us a try. Thanks for reading this and also thanks for your support.

Back from the Wolfe

Wow peeps.....it was brutal! It is a fine balance between not looking too controlling and also giving the viewers some entertainment and always keeping it real. Some viewers who watch the Wolfe Show might think it is boring at times but ghosts do not run on our time, we are their guests, we take their cues. Until you have been there yourself, under the view of the camera and trying to record, film and document all at the same time, please be kind and patient on the investigating group. It is not easy...and we are brand new babies.....still learning to walk, stumbling and tripping along the way. But we also have heart and the desire to seek, attempt to find answers and experience the paranormal. There are great minds out there, mentors and educators who have years of experience over us and we welcome them as our teachers.....we want to someday be like them. We have a fantastic team.....every one of them gives all that they have....enthusiasm, cheerfulness, dedication, supportive and cooperative natures and sharing their ideas and labor. They are great. If you watched us and liked it....thank you for your support. If you watched us and didn't like us....thank you still, we will do better next time and appreciate that you decided to spend your night with us and shared our experiences. Thanks and have a wonderful week everybody!!! Kat of PGS

Ghost Hunting

October is just up the road and its already starting to taste like Halloween....a time when ghost hunters are in full party gear. PGS has been getting some inquiries for interviews.....maybe ghost hunting is not so freaky after all. It seems everyone wants a piece of the action. It is a fascinating adventure as well as an opportunity to make new friends, accept challenges and explore places you never thought you would. It also makes you really dig inside yourself.....finding out what you are made of, seeking anwers and discovering truths.

Ghost hunters are scattered in all areas.....some are cops, some are teachers, nurses, social workers, bean counters, administrators, blue and white collars......all seeking an adventure, bonding with others who have the same interests and goals and above all....helping to understand what a spirit is.

Groups are growing.....proof this isn't just a fad....some collaborate, some are individuals and many are teachers and guides. If you ever want to know "what goes bump in the night" or it is something you always wanted to do......come join us. Even if its just to satisfy a bit of curiousity.

Peace everyone.........Kat of PGS
