Ed’s Branding Iron...

During our initial tour of the Zalud House, we stopped in Ed’s room and were being briefed by the docent Connie. Christina reacted to something that touched her arm. I (Kat) visually witnessed a branding iron next to the bed slide down and touch her (at first I thought the iron moved because of Christina unconsciously handling the footboard of the bed).

We tested that theory by pushing the bed and moving the footboard, the iron did not budge. When I picked up the iron to examine it (I have my late husband’s branding irons and let me tell you…those puppies are heavy) I noticed it was being supported by a pair of cowboy boots.

I absolutely verify that I saw it move, Connie the docent, saw it move and Christina felt it touch her arm. Immediately after that happened, the K-II meter that I was holding started to flash and was witnessed by myself and Micky, an investigator trainee. The flashing ceased after a few seconds. It did not happen any other time throughout the evening.

These boots were made for walking...

Right after an EVP session, a sound caught my (Kat) attention. I was standing in the doorway just inside Pearle’s room when I heard the sounds of clothing rustling and boots walking up the hallway towards Ed’s room. At the same time the boot steps crossed the doorway, I glimpsed a shadow.

These sounds were also heard by two other investigators that were with me in the room. Unfortunately, I did not have my recorder on. I immediately called down on my radio to the team below, to check if any of them were walking around, they all established they had been sitting and were not moving.

What the???

During a break, Art and I were standing in the vicinity of the front entryway next to the stairs. I was leaning on the wall dividing the parlor, almost in the corner. We both heard a strange sound that resembled rolling marbles, breaking glass or tile directly above us and it seemed to be sliding down fairly quickly.

I instinctively jumped forward, whirled around and looked up, fully expecting something to fall down on us. There was nothing there! We had both heard it and we had both reacted.

We investigated outside on the front steps, looked at the windows, the front door, the walkways surrounding the property and house and checked upstairs. I even pushed on the wall and door frame…everything was intact and solid. We have no explanation for the origin of that sound. We have not heard it duplicated again.
